Personal Care Aide Upgrade to Home Health Aide

The Home Health Aide (HHA) program of IDI allows that a Personal Care Aide (PCA) adequately trained in approved personal care activities may be upgrade into a Home Health Aide (HHA). This is possible by allowing the individual to participate in the health related tasks training in which the HRTC is used. Components of the program include the following:

1. A valid PCA Certificate approved by The NYS Department of Health and or the New York State Education Department.
2. Applicant /Trainee must complete the required (Supervised Practical Training) in both laboratory and patient care settings.
3. Full Physical Examination. Physical prior to client contact. Physical must include results of Law/regulation.
4. Reference 2 letters of reference on company letterhead work or professional (doctor, nurse, teacher, lawyer, etc.)
5. High School diploma GED or an entrance Test
6. Ability to read, write and carry out directions.

A HHA may work as a PCA. a PCA cannot work as an HHA
