Students will learn about the roles and responsibilities of the professionals Office Assistant, as well as how factors such as globalization, technology, and today’s continual changes to globalization affect their role. Each section of this program is designed to give students an insight into the duties of a professional as an office assistant and to provide them with opportunities to practice and acquire those skills so that they are prepared for employment. This course provides all of the current technology, tools, and procedures to prepare students for success as administrative professionals.

Responsible for a variety of clerical duties necessary to run an organization efficiently. They serve as an information manager for an office, schedule meetings and appointments, organize and maintain paper and electronic files, manage projects, conduct research, and provide information via the telephone, postal mail, and e-mails.

Required Courses: 

Keyboarding

This course is designed to increase the student keyboarding skill through real practice and reinforcement of correct techniques. Students will use word processing software to create, format, and edit personal and business documents. Also how to create and edit a variety of samples documents; i.e., reports, letters, memos, emails, labels and envelopes from unarranged, edited, and script copy using word processing software.

Math for Business

This course use mathematical theory, computational techniques, algorithms, and the latest computer technology to solve economic, scientific, engineering, and business problems. 

The work of mathematicians falls into two broad classes: theoretical (pure) mathematics and applied mathematics. Applied mathematicians start with a practical problem, envision its separate elements, and then reduce the elements to mathematical variables. They often use computers to analyze relationships among the variables, and they solve complex problems by developing models with alternative solutions.

Business English

This courses in English language and literature, including linguistics and comparative literature. Include both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of both teaching and research. This course enables you to prepare for a career in business or commerce, by combining the study of the English language and its culture with a thorough grounding in business studies and an understanding of the mechanism of international business and trade.

Microsoft Word

This course introduced to the concepts and advantages of Microsoft word along with hands-on instruction about all of the program’s major functions.

This course introduces not only the basics of each MW application but also the essential features of multi-tasking shows you how to access menus with and without a mouse; use the icons bar; create, save and print documents; utilize the spell check and thesaurus features, change fonts and other basic features to help you create quality documents.

Microsoft Excel

This course provides the student with the knowledge on how to create spreadsheets using various formulas and functions. Learn how to set up worksheets, enter values and formulas, format cells, save and retrieve data and print. Instruction is also provided regarding the creation of several types of graphs using the Chart Wizard and Excel’s applications.

Principle of Accounting I

This course provides a thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures. Topics include: interpreting transactions; posting and summarizing the data into financial statements; accounting systems design; inventories; temporary investments; accounting for receivables and payables; fixed assets; and accounting for a merchandising company.

Computer Fundamentals

It is almost impossible to think of a career in this day and age that does not involve the use of computers in some way. This course is designed for the novice user; this course assumes no prior knowledge of computers and begins with the very basics. Students learn how to use a mouse, navigate through Windows and differentiate and utilize the options of the computer system.

Principle of Accounting II

This course provide in-depth more information to build on the knowledge and skills gained Topics include: financial statement analysis; annual reports; statement of cash flows; accounting for investments in stocks and bonds; corporate forms of business organizations; consolidated financial statements; international operations; and accounting concepts and principles for individuals.

Presentation for Business

This course prepares students with the skills needed to create a powerful graphics presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint.  In addition, students learn how to use PowerPoint in a real world situation, through lessons and exercises relating to everyday business tasks. Students learn how to create and present an entire presentation to an audience.

Computerized Accounting

This course will give the student the skills and knowledge needed to apply accounting concepts and principles in a computerized environment. The student will enter information on a new company, assign account numbers using the chart of accounts, enter information on the daily activities of the company, do the trial balance and prepare the financial statements for year end. The student will enter from inception of the company through its first year all information in an actual simulation using the material furnished.

Portfolio Presentation

This course is designed to assist students in the job search process. The class focuses on the current work environment and sources of job information. Students prepare a portfolio that will include a resume, cover letter and documents demonstrating accomplishments in specific areas. Emphases are placed on interviewing skills and techniques for personal and professional growth.
