Patient Care Technician Course Code: PCT

Patient Care Technician, also known as Nursing aides, geriatric aides, assistive personnel, or hospital attendants, perform routine tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff. They answer patients’ call bells, deliver messages, serve meals, make beds, and help patients eat, dress, and bathe. Aides also may provide skin care to patients; take temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; and help patients get in and out of bed and walk. They also may escort patients to operating and examining rooms, keep patients’ rooms neat, set up equipment, store and move supplies, or assist with some procedures. Aides observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing or medical staff.

Patient Care Technician play an important role in the care of people who are ill or injured. People are living longer. As people age, the need for health care increases, and so more services are need. Advanced technology means that more lives are saved. Although life is maintained, some of these individuals will need continuing health care.

The Patient Care Technician course has a minimum of 205 hours course between theory and Laboratory practice (95 Hours) and (30 Hours clinical Experience) These 30 hours of clinical experience will be conducted in an affiliated Health Care Facility, which is required before the certification. This will require (6) hours per day (five days) over the remaining 5 weeks.

• Basic Human Needs and Communication

At the completion of this program, the student will qualify for work in: Hospitals, Healthcare facilities, Rehabilitation centers, Emergency centers, Doctors’ office,Clinics, Nursing homes, Home healthcare, and other healthcare facilities.
