8 Hour In Services Training Course for Security Guard

The 8-Hour In-Service Training Course for Security Guard is the required annual refresher under New York State regulations. Training is delivered by DCJS-approved schools. This course must be completed each calendar year you hold a security guard registration to maintain eligibility for renewal. Because registration is issued for two years, you must complete two 8-Hour Annual In-Service courses within your registration effective and expiration dates.

This program provides updated and enhanced information on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard. It reinforces the essential knowledge needed to perform professional security services, including the role of the guard, legal limitations, emergency procedures, and effective communication techniques. Emphasis is placed on maintaining professionalism, ethics, and compliance with New York State regulations.

Course Requirements:
Participants must have previously completed the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment and 16-Hour On-the-Job Training courses. (IDI may require proof of completion at enrollment.)

Successful completion of this course fulfills the New York State annual in-service training requirement for registered security guards.
