The GED is a High School Equivalency national examination. The test is available to adults who did not graduate from high school or whose diplomas may not be recognized by New York State. In New York State, the GED is offered in English and Spanish.

When candidates pass the GED Test in Spanish in New York State, they receive a high school equivalency diploma with a designation of Spanish.

Today, a high school diploma remains the primary ticket to many entry-level jobs.
In many cases, it is also the prerequisite for advancement in employment,
Occupational training and postsecondary education.

This course will prepare you for the GED Examination. Now you have the opportunity to develop and improve the skills you need to pass the GED (New York High School Equivalency Examination). This course covers all the subjects included in the GED examination. You will further study the necessary skills in reading comprehension, grammar, social studies, history, geography, mathematics.

The tests take more than seven hours to complete and include a direct writing assessment. To ensure that the content and skills measured by the tests remain closely matched to contemporary high school curriculum.

The GED Tests cover the same subjects that people study in high school. Candidates are not required to know all of the information that is usually taught in high school; however, across the five tests, candidates are tested on their ability to read and process information, solve problems, and communicate effectively.

We understand that some students may require additional academic support in some of the academic areas. Teachers will recommend students for assessment based on your academic progress.  We are committed to support any students who need additional academic support in order for them to complete the program. For example, any students who do not pass a particular subject on the test will be allowed to receive additional support within our school. Students will be allowed to re-take the HSE Test until they pass the NYS High School Equivalency Test.
