This training Program will prepare you to become a Phlebotomy Technician you will learn how draw and prepare blood for medical testing, transfusions or donation. Phlebotomists are trained to collect blood via venipuncture, finger pricks, or in the case of infants, heel pricks. Emphasis is placed on proper basic blood chemistries procedures, blood specimen collection and laboratory testing procedures.
The duties of a phlebotomist include: Assembles equipment for drawing blood, such as needles, tourniquet, gauze, blood collection devices, cotton, and alcohol, according to test or procedure requirements. Applies tourniquet, inserts needle into vein or pricks finger, draws blood into collection bag or tube, and applies treatment to puncture site. Labels and stores blood containers. Examines patients to take vital signs. Conducts medical testing procedures to screen blood samples. Conducts interviews to gather and record patient information such as medical and personal history.

> Preparing patients before drawing blood
> Drawing blood from patients and labeling them with their information.
> Preparing blood, urine and other specimens for testing
> Explaining blood-drawing procedure to patients and answering questions
> Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials and other equipment
> Keep accurate records on fluid specimens and tests
> Maintaining medical equipment such as needles, test tubes and blood vials
> Identifying patients information, medical record or other means
> Labeling samples correctly and send them for testing
* This course include the examination for the nationally recognized certification.
If a retest is required the cost of the retest is also included in your tuition.
