Security Guard Supervisor

The Security Guard Supervisor course is designed to prepare experienced security professionals for leadership and management positions within the private security industry. This training focuses on the responsibilities, skills, and professional standards required to effectively manage personnel, operations, and client relationships in a variety of security settings.

Students will learn how to organize, direct, and evaluate security personnel, ensuring that all site operations meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. The course emphasizes strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, along with the ability to maintain detailed records, manage time effectively, and uphold professional ethics in all supervisory duties.

This course covers the following topics:

• Role and responsibilities of the Security Guard Supervisor
• Leadership and supervisory principles
• Developing and managing security teams
• Conducting job analysis and writing job descriptions
• Motivating and guiding security personnel
• Effective communication and conflict resolution
• Implementing client security plans and procedures
• Time management and prioritizing operational activities
• Documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping
• Professional ethics and the security mission

Course Requirements:
• A valid Security Guard Registration (or equivalent certification from another U.S. state), or
• A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience as a security guard.

Upon completion of this course, participants will have the leadership and administrative competencies necessary to supervise teams of security guards, manage operations efficiently, and maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Note: This professional development course is not a DCJS-mandated training program. It is designed to enhance supervisory skills for experienced security professionals.
