Personal Care Aide

In-service Requirements
The PCA is required to attend 6 hours of in-service per year to keep Certificate of Training Valid.

The Personal Care Aide (PCA) is an auxiliary health care worker who provides under Register Nurse supervision, personal care and household assistance in order to maintain a patient’s health status. Personal and home care aides (also called homemakers, caregivers, companions, and personal attendants) provide housekeeping and routine personal care services. Aides may plan meals (including special diets), shop for food, and cook. Aides also may help clients move from bed, bathe, dress, and groom. Some accompany clients outside the home, serving as a guide and companion. In this course you will learn about the kinds of health and social problems that created a need for Home Care Services and how these services are provided by the agency for which you work.
